What a repair usually runs

$300–$4,000
from a single pipe boot up to a full section
Typical local range. A real price needs a look at the roof, and that look is free.
What moves it
  • How far the water got (shingles only, or decking too)
  • Where it is: flashing, valley, chimney, skylight
  • Roof material and how many storeys
  • Whether it is leaking right now

Why a small leak never stays small

Water follows the decking. A flashing or pipe-boot fix caught this month is a few hundred dollars; the same leak left through a season soaks the deck and insulation underneath it, and that becomes a section replacement. If you are seeing a stain, it has already been leaking a while.

Griffintegrity Roof & Remod repairs wind-lifted, creased, and missing shingles for homes across Coweta County and the south side of metro Atlanta. This is targeted repair work, replacing the individual shingles and ridge cap sections that wind has damaged, matched as closely as possible to the shingles already on your roof. We work on Owens Corning and other asphalt shingle roofs in Newnan, Sharpsburg, Peachtree City, Senoia, and the surrounding towns, where a strong wind event can lift or tear off a section of shingles in an afternoon.

Did last night's wind leave shingles in your yard?

That means the seal strip on those shingles let go and the wind finished the job. Wind gets under the leading edge of a shingle, breaks its bond, and either creases it, tears it loose entirely, or leaves it flapping and no longer sealed. A creased shingle will not reseal on its own, and it will leak in the next rain even if it looks mostly intact from the ground. The number of affected shingles and whether the seal has failed in a small area or across the whole roof determines whether this is a quick patch or points to something bigger.

Warning signs to watch for

Shingles or pieces in the yard or gutters

This is the clearest sign wind has torn shingles loose. It's worth checking the roof even if you only find one or two pieces, because more may be lifted but not yet gone.

Creased or curled shingle edges

A creased shingle has lost its seal and won't lie flat again, which means it's letting water underneath even without a visible tear. These need to be replaced rather than pressed back down.

Bald patches with granules in the gutters

Granule loss can be wind and age related or a sign of hail impact. Either way, exposed asphalt ages fast in the sun and shortens the life of that section of roof.

Damaged or missing ridge cap shingles

The ridge takes the most direct wind of any part of the roof, so ridge cap shingles are often the first to lift or crack. A damaged ridge is an easy entry point for water if it's not repaired.

What is causing the problem

Wind getting under the shingle's seal strip

Once the adhesive seal between shingle courses breaks, wind can get underneath and lift, crease, or tear the shingle on the next gust.

Hail impact weakening the shingle mat

Hail bruises can compromise a shingle's flexibility even before wind tears it loose, so wind and hail damage often show up together.

Age-related brittleness

Shingles that have lost their flexibility crack and tear more easily in wind than newer shingles would.

Widespread seal failure across the roof

When lifted and missing shingles show up on multiple slopes rather than one localized area, it often means the whole roof is nearing the end of its service life.

What to expect during the visit

We walk each slope of the roof and lift-test shingles along the edges and ridge to find every spot that's compromised, not just the obvious gaps. We count the creased, torn, and missing shingles and check the condition of the ridge cap while we're up there. If the damage is scattered and localized, we replace the affected shingles and reseal the surrounding area, matching as closely as we can to your existing roof. If the seal failure turns out to be widespread across several slopes, we'll tell you that plainly and walk through what a full section replacement or re-roof would involve instead.

Related services you may need

If the wind event also brought hail, that's a separate inspection worth having done at the same time. And if the shingle damage turns out to be roof-wide, a full replacement may be the better long-term call.

The cost of waiting

A missing or creased shingle doesn't stay a small problem. Every rain that follows finds the exposed gap, and water that gets under one bare spot travels along the decking and can show up as a stain somewhere else in the house entirely. What starts as a same-day patch job turns into decking repair, insulation replacement, and interior drywall work if it sits through even one more heavy storm.

How much does shingle repair cost?

It depends on how many shingles are affected and whether the damage is localized or spread across the roof. A handful of shingles in one section is a smaller repair than damage scattered across multiple slopes.

Will the repaired shingles match my roof?

We match as closely as possible to your existing shingle color and style, though some fading difference is normal with an older roof since shingles weather over time. It's rarely noticeable from the ground.

How many missing shingles before I need a full replacement instead of a repair?

There's no fixed number, it depends on whether the damage is contained to one area or spread across the roof, and how the rest of the shingles are holding up. We'll give you a straight answer after we've walked the roof.

If wind has left you with missing or lifted shingles, call Griffintegrity and we'll get them repaired and matched to the rest of your roof. We serve Newnan and towns across Coweta County and south metro Atlanta.
